What’s Going On???

        We are more than half way through the first quarter of 4^th grade.    In reading we are working on CROP-QV strategies, fix up strategies to use during reading, and starting nonfiction text features and nonfiction reading.  We are working daily in centers on reading, writing, math and social studies objectives.  In writing we are finishing up a personal narrative and going step by step through the writing process. In math we are working on area and perimeter of various shapes.  We will begin parallel and perpendicular line segments soon. In social studies we are learning about the regions of North Carolina.

*** We will be starting multiplication timed quizzes next week!!  I am noticing lots of gaps in the multiplication; we need all of these facts memorized in order to build on math strategies taught in 3^rd grade.  Please practice these nightly with your student.  *** (Anyone want to  volunteer to check these quizzes??- I will send them home nightly and you can check in your free time. (What’s free time? )
