Raleigh Rescue Mission Supply Drive
Raleigh Rescue Mission
Did you know the average age of a homeless person in Wake County is 8 years old!?!?!Â
Our class is going to begin a community service project. We are going to do a supply drive to help the Raleigh Rescue Mission. Â
RRM is located in downtown Raleigh and serves as a homeless shelter to those that are less fortunate. RRM also works with a number of other local agencies to help those in need. RRM provides Wake county citizens with clothing and food in addition to being a warm, safe place to spend the night.Â
When the cold air of winter keeps you inside, think of the Wake county residents that are homeless and do not have a home to warm up in or needed personal hygiene supplies.   In preparation for the holidays clean out your closets and recycle items that are no longer in use. Monetary donations are also accepted. (If you do this- please encourage your students raise money or donate their own money.)Â
Feel free to visit the RRM website for a detailed list of items that they will accept.Â

Here are just a few items the RRM accepts:Â
Clothing                     shoes                          books                          coats
Appliances                 toilet paper                paper towels               canned food
Cooking oil                 coffee                         creamer                      batteries
Personal hygiene items                                   toothbrushes              Bibles Â
All items will be collected in the classroom. We will be making encouraging placemats to send to the RRM and I will make a trip to donate our items sometime during our January/ February track out (date TBD). Students and parents can meet me there to tour the facility. Depending on the response we might also take baked goods and/ or bagged lunches.Â
Interested in helping???Â
Email me if you want to help deliver items to the RRM during our supply drive or if you are interested in the tour and visit during Jan. / Feb. track out. bellsworth@wcpss.net
